Kolkata is going to host FAIR Council meeting in December 2024: If you live in West Bengal then you are going to be proud of the news that for the first time, the city of joy Kolkata is going to host the 42nd meeting of the FAIR Council. Those people who don’t know about the FAIR Council want to inform you that it is the highest decision-making body of the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research.
According to the official news reports, from the 3rd to the 4th of November 2024, this biggest council meeting is going to be held in the capital of West Bengal. Also, it will be a historic movement for all citizens of West Bengal because it will be the inaugural time the Council convenes outside its headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.
According to the official reports, this meeting will bring together 25 scientists and Science bureaucrats from more than 50 participating countries. Also, the officials of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India are going to participate in this Council.
Basically, this project is an international particle accelerator facility under construction in Germany, that makes some great researchers in high energy physics, nuclear physics, particle physics, and plasma applications. On the other hand, this Council will explore some amazing questions like the formation of elements heavier than lithium in stars, the nature of matter inside neutron stars, the impact of space radiation on astronauts, and the use of accelerated particles in advanced cancer therapies.
Also we want to share that India is the only non European shareholder and member of this popular organisation that plays an important role in the global endeavour. Also after Germany India is the second largest shareholder of this organisation with a huge stake of 26%. On the other hand, different large groups of Indian scientists are actively working and doing research for this organization.
According to the reports the Bose Institute in Kolkata is the organising body that is going to properly implement this mega-science project. The funding or expenses will be equally shared by the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
